Home MenuK9 Unit
The mission of the unit is to assist Officers and save lives through the use of the canine’s advanced abilities and skills. Each year, the canine teams demonstrate these skills through hundreds of deployments resulting in arrests, narcotic seizures; safety sweeps and locates of missing person(s). The teams also locate several suspects and assist in tracking criminals. K9 teams are commonly called on by other local agencies and have assisted law enforcement throughout the state. Each canine is assigned to the individual handler and are sworn Officers of the Loveland Police Department. Currently the unit has Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, and Labrador Retriever breeds in service.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the canine units perform demonstrations at local schools and specific public events. For more information on public canine demonstrations, please contact the Loveland Police K9 Unit at (970) 667-2151 or check out our Facebook page.
