Tech Talks: Data Backup & File Protection

This session explains what your data is, how to back it up, and how to protect it. It covers the devices you can use for data backup, the different backup methods and their advantages and disadvantages, and the steps involved in creating backups. The presentation also highlights the importance of password protection and encryption, and it explains how to restore data from saved backups. Both online and offline backup options will be discussed, along with recommendations for safe, free, and reliable software. In addition, attendees will receive information about free resources for further learning and opportunities for individualized tech help. Snacks and refreshments provided on first come, first serve basis.

Speaker: John Williams

John Williams has worked for 20+ years in Tech and holds an M.A. in Psychology.

John has a Master’s Degree in Psychology & Communications and has been teaching and building for the web since its earliest days. He is an AARP‑certified technology educator, passionate about making his wide range of knowledge in tech approachable, and its benefits accessible for all ages and skill levels.

He also enjoys iced tea and occasionally making instrumental music.
