The City of Loveland supports making it easier for people to own and use electric vehicles (EVs) in our community. Having more places to charge electric vehicles is essential to this effort. In January 2026, Loveland updated its Unified Development Code to align local standards with state requirements (including Colorado’s EV Model Code) and to streamline the development of EV charging stations. These updates are intended to provide clarity, predictability, and efficiency for property owners and developers.

This web page is designed to guide applicants through the permitting and review process for EV charging projects in Loveland. This page:

  • Defines Electric Vehicle Charging Projects
  • Explains when land use approval is required
  • Identifies necessary permits
  • Provides links to application materials and fee information
  • Outlines the review timeline

Our goal is to make it easy to understand the steps, standards, and resources involved in developing EV charging stations and equipment in our community.
